Today was Australia Day at Seattle Center, well it was celebrated today at Seattle Center. The actual Australia Day is next week. But in a very cool move Saffron, who is a BBQer and a judge helped to organize a PNWBA BBQ event at the Australia Day celebration. There was a call for judges on the PNWBA forum and, come on, how in the world could I resist - it was in Seattle, and it allowed me to start having BBQ in January, January people. It's cold and grey outside and I am eating just smoked ribs - awesome.
The day was wonderful - the meat was not quite up to the level we usually see but it was still pretty good and we got to try Australian lamb which was pretty neat. After the judging a few judges headed over to the beer garden and downed an Australian beer or three - anything for the cause!
It was a really fun day, good to see my judging pals and very fun to be in the city on the weekend. Here are a few pics of the day.
I am so happy that BBQ season is back. My favorite time of the year is September through the beginning of January, but BBQ gives me a reason to like spring and summer again!! (Sorry fo the large pics - I only had my phone with me!)
